Not even the lure of free racing for our E and F grades could get the riders today, as we were greeted with a beautiful morning after a week or wind and rain. Only 5 riders in E grade took up the offer of racing for free, however numbers were also a little low across all grades. RESULTS

Mother's Day Crits
The club wishes to thank the 5 willing women who raced in the gale force winds on Sunday for our Mother's Day crits. We hope that all 5 women had a good ride and we see you all again very soon. The club gave out some red roses and a tube to all women concerned as a token gift for Mother's Day. In addition, Alison Skene from Eastern won the "One Tough Mumma" award for the ride of the day, and with that Northerly blowering was well deserved. RESULTS. VIDEO "Tommy Attacks, Micallef takes 2nd"

FULL RESULTS HERE. Go Brave Dave Race Report
Congratulations to everyone involved in making this years’ race one of the best all round days I can recall. A great field of 124 riders, including 9 ladies, took part in the race and most stayed to enjoy the BBQ and socializing afterwards.
Special mention must go to Albert Rain, who stepped forward and took it upon himself to co-ordinate the entire day, Mary Tams and Faye Logan, who did all the paperwork, co-ordinated the food and clean-up afterwards, and to John Stevens who not only supplied the meat for the BBQ, but cooked the BBQ and helped clean up afterwards. There were also many other volunteers who put in and did their bit to help, too many to mention, but you know who you are, so thank you sincerely, the day would not have been the same without your efforts. Apart from that choppy wind, conditions for racing were ideal and our group of 7 got away off limit, and we managed to work together quite well & stayed away till we reached the turn at the freeway when two of the group behind caught us just after the turn. Two of us jumped on and the four of us stayed together till the right hand turn at Newham when a huge bunch caught us going up the hill and splintered our small group & that was pretty much it! ......still a long way to go!
Before presentations got underway, we observed the traditional minutes silence in memory of the ANZACS, recently departed members including Dave Ryan, who we lost to cancer last year and Harry Sutherland, who named the Benghazi back in 1979 and who died last Sunday at 93 years of age. Thanks to all the riders, officials and volunteers for making the 2013 Banghazi Handicap a great day. |
